Location: West side of Smuggler Mountain. Originally staked out by John Adair, he named the claimed in honor of his sister, Mollie, who’d married Judge C. M. Ginson of Pueblo. Due to conflicts with surrounding claims — the Lone Pine and the Sequoit, costly legal battles ensued. Henry B. Gillespie soon became involved with the Mollie Gibson. However, it wasn’t until David M. Hyman and Charles A. Hallam began developing the Smuggler Mine that the Mollie Gibson acquired greater interest. Soon, the attention of the Jerome B. Wheeler mining syndicate became involved and the Mollie Gibson Mine began to produce significant quantities of silver.
