Description

DENVER, SOUTH PARK & PACIFIC RAILROAD, ENGINE #10, 1879
Known as the “Granite”
On Bridge above Deansbury, Platte Canon, COLORADO
WILLIAM HENRY JACKSON, Photograph #717
From a collection of beyond scarce “photographer’s proofs” originally acquired from one of William Henry Jackson’s nieces.
These proofs appear to be 1/2 of a stereoview, but actually are mounted on thinner white bond paper than the typical stereoview and were used as print references; in another words, a printer would use these proofs to easily associate a customer’s request for a photograph by either the WHJ number and/or title.
Condition: near fine; excellent tones, contrasts & details.  Exceedingly scarce photographer’s proof from William Henry Jackson’s company.  Circa 1879
Image dimensions: 3 inches by 3-1/2 inches
Mount (stiff, but not thick white paper): 3-3/8 inches by 3-7/8 inches
