Hill, Breckenridge Mining District, Colorado, stock certificate, 1896.
The Wapiti was one of those prolific gold strikes from which legends evole. Originally
just a single claim on Farncomb Hill, in French Gulch, Breckenridge Gold Mining
District, Summit County, Colorado, this mining property, owned by John F. Campion
and Charles Savender, became one of the richest gold strikes in Summit County,
producing a variety of free-gold specimens still avidly sought out by mineral collector
today.
Mining Stock Certificate #31, signed by John F. Campion, as president, and Charles
Cavender, as secretary. Issued June 9, 1896; transferred to Certificate #32, September
11, 1896.
Accompanying this original stock certificate is am original photograph of John F.
Campion and his wife, and Judge Charles Cavender and his wife, with Colorado
Midland Railroad trains in the background.
