DR. CLINTON H. SCOTT, physician and photographer, 1855 – 1934
Resided in Como, Park County, Colorado, Denver, Arapahoe County, Colorado and Breckenridge, Summit County, Colorado. Scott is first noted in Park County in 1886, where he purchased a home in Como, Colorado. Scott bought a home in Denver after being appointed to the office of Health Commissioner by Mayor Wolfe Londoner. Still, Scott retained his medical practice in Como. Around 1900 – 1902, Scott of his wife temporarily resided in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Offered here is a collection of 31 original Dr. C. H. Clinton photographs, 1890 – 1902. Most were taken of scenes in Park County, Colorado; however, there are some from Jefferson and Arapahoe counties. Many were taken while Scott served as photographer for the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railway, as a surgeon. Others, when the railroad was known as the Denver, Leadville & Gunnison Railroad. Photographs include Como images, such as private homes, post office, Pacific Hotel after fire, South Park Hotel, Riley Peak Hotel, Cassell’s, Mormon Church at Bradford Junction, Town of Hamilton, Fortune Pplacers at Tarryall, Urmson, Minnie’s cabin at Silver Heels, Montgomery Gulch, Engine 265 of the Denver, Leadville & Gunnison Railroad, Alpine Tunnel, Old Mill at Park City, Hammond House at Foxton, self-portraits with camera, etc.
All are cabinet card photographs. Average size: 9-1/4 inches by 7 inches.
Most all images are albumens; several are gelatin-silver. Most all images are in very good plus condition or better wtih strong tones and contrasts. Some photographs do show some lightening.
