Delivery Terms

Colorado Artifactual is based in Crested Butte, Colorado, and ships rare books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, and historic artifacts to customers domestically and internationally. Because many of our items are one-of-a-kind, fragile, or of significant value, we take special care in how each piece is packed, insured, and delivered.

1. Processing Time

• Orders are typically processed and packed within two (2) business days of payment confirmation.
• Items requiring custom packaging (e.g., clamshell boxes, solander cases, or climate-stable crating) may take additional time to prepare. We will notify you if your item requires extended handling time.
• Orders placed on weekends or holidays will begin processing the next business day.

2. Packaging

• Every item is packed according to its individual conservation needs — acid-free materials, custom-fitted boxes, rigid mailers, or crating for oversized or especially fragile pieces.
• High-value books and manuscripts are typically double-boxed with cushioning to prevent movement during transit.
• Dust jackets, where present, are protected with archival mylar or polyester covers prior to shipment.

3. Shipping Methods and Carriers

• We ship via USPS Priority/Registered Mail, selected based on the value, size, and destination of the item.
• Items above five hundred dollars ($500.00) are shipped with signature confirmation required and full insurance coverage.
• Expedited or specific carrier requests can be accommodated upon request; any additional cost will be communicated prior to shipment.

4. Insurance

• All shipments are insured for their full purchase value. Insurance costs are included in the shipping quote unless otherwise noted at checkout.
• In the rare event of loss or damage in transit, please contact us immediately (within five [5] days of expected delivery or receipt) so we can file a claim with the carrier and arrange a resolution.

5. Domestic Shipping

• Standard domestic shipping typically takes 5 to 6 business days after processing, depending on the destination and method selected.
• Signature confirmation is required for all shipments valued over five hundred dollar [$500.00].

6. International Shipping

• We ship internationally to most countries; please contact us before ordering if you do not see your country listed at checkout.
• International shipments may take fourteen (14) business days depending on destination and customs processing.
• Customs, duties, and import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the item price or shipping cost. We will complete customs declarations accurately and cannot undervalue items for customs purposes.
• Delays caused by customs holds are outside our control, though we are happy to assist with documentation if needed.

7. In-Person Pickup

• Local pickup in Crested Butte, Colorado may be available by appointment for select items. Please contact us in advance to arrange a pickup time.

8. Shipping Costs

• Shipping costs are calculated based on the item’s size, weight, value, destination, and required packaging, and will be provided prior to checkout or invoicing.
• For exceptionally rare, large, or high-value items, we may reach out directly to arrange the safest and most appropriate shipping method rather than relying on automated checkout rates.

9. Delivery Issues

• If a package appears damaged upon arrival, please photograph the packaging and item before opening further, and contact us immediately at https://coloradoartifactual.com.
• If a shipment is delayed beyond the expected delivery window, please reach out and we will track the shipment with the carrier on your behalf.
• Buyers are encouraged to inspect items promptly upon receipt and report any concerns within [NUMBER] days.

10. Holds and Layaway Deliveries

Items held under a deposit or layaway arrangement will be shipped only once the agreed payment terms have been fulfilled in full, per the arrangement made at the time of sale.
