Description
NEVADAVILLE, CENTRAL GOLD MINING DISTRICT, GILPIN COUNTY, COLORADO
Altitude: 9,000 feet
Circa 1877
Original mammoth-sized albumen photograph
by
LACHLAN McLEAN, Central City, Colorado
McLEAN had a photographic studio in Central City, Colorado from 1876 – 1878.
IMAGE DIMENSIONS: 20-1/2 inches by 16-1/2 inches
Mounted on original card-stock backing.
CONDITION: very good plus to near fine; very strong tones & contrasts, resulting in near fine detail; not framed, but with original mat; just a mere share of lightening, but otherwise astounding for 1877.
Mammoth glass-plate originals are difficult enough to acquire these days; therefore, one in this remarkable condition, of such an historic COLORADO gold mining town is near impossible.
SUPERB DETAIL in this original photograph.
