THE LOUISIANA MINING COMPANY, Georgetown, Clear Creek County, Colorado stock certificate #361

Issued October 15, 1881, not cancelled by the Company.

Mining company owned the Louisiana claim on the south slope of Sherman Mountain, 3 miles from Georgetown, claim patented 1880. Fissure vein 2 feet wide with a pay streak of six inches. Galena, ruby and native silver in a quartz gangue. Development: a shaft 125 feet deep plus drifting.

Although Stephen A. Bemis signed as president of this Company, Governor Robert W. Steele was one of the main owners and promoters. Also signed by D. E. Garrison, as secretary

Very good plus to near fine condition; bottom edge is a bit frayed.
