Mining property located near Pittsburgh, Gunnison County, Colorado, above the Slate River. Hawkeye Gropup: comprising Hawkeye, Hawkeye East, Hawkeye West, Hawkeye North, Hawkeye North-West, Grand View and Alpha lodes, each claim 300 feet by 1500 feet, situated on Hawkeye Mountain, Elk Mountain Mining District, one-fourth mile from Pittsburgh and six miles from Crested Butte, Colorado. Located in 1881. Veins all fissures with crevices from 4 feet to 6 feet in width and pay streaks about 15 inches. Ore contained galena with brittle silver and zinc blende in a quartz gangue, running, after being sorted, 115 ounces of silver and 1/10th ounce of gold to the town. Developed by two tunnels on the Hawkeye West; on Grand View by an adit; and, Alpha by a cross-cut. Output: 50 tones with a capacity of producing ten tons per day.
