Five miles southwest of Canon City, Colorado, Circa 1898 – 1900
Boudoir-card sized photograph attributed to Beecher (first name not known)
Image dimensions: 7-1/4 inches by 4-1/2 inches; Mount dimensions: 8 inches by 5 inches.
Condition: good plus to very good; strong tones & contrasts, very good plus detail; however, image does have evident scratching.
Dawson “boys” in photograph; Chandler, Ralph, Daniel, Fred, Benjamin Irving & Bonewitz Xerxes. Printed article by Nancy Dawson accompanies this original photograph that includes a reprinted image of a gallery photograph identifying all of the Dawson “boys,” and also offers more detail on Dawson City and gold mining in district.
The Dawson City boom was actually only a flourish; however, still of interest as a later Colorado mining camp.
