Antique COLORADO Railroad pass, TPA (Tourist Protection Association) RAILROAD PASS. Dated 1890. Tourist Protective Association (TPA) Conference in Denver, Colorado, 1890.
For the following railroads:
DENVER & RIO GRANDE RAILROAD
COLORADO MIDLAND RAILROAD
UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD
Gold pass issued specifically for the TPA Convention in Denver, Colorado in 1890. When these railroad passes were issued more often than not they were minted in silver. Gold issues of this pass are exceedingly rare.
Provenance: Pass was acquired from the Jackson Thode Collection. Pass was assayed for Jackson Thode by Precious Metals & Gems, Overland Park, Kansas. Assay as follows:
8.8 grams, solid 14kt gold
Rectangular shape with the following dimensions: 83.15mm x 49.99mm x 0.24mm
Gold content no greater than 58.5% and not less than 55.0%
Near fine to fine condition; light surface scratches.
