Description
BUENA VISTA, CHAFFEE COUNTY, COLORADO
STREET SCENE
Cole Alcorn, Druggist store in foreground
Early Buena Vista town scene
Photograph by WILLIAM HENRY JACKSON #527
Circa 1879
From a collection of beyond scarce “photographer’s proofs” originally acquired from one of William Henry Jackson’s nieces. These proofs appear to be 1/2 of a stereoview, but they are mounted on thinner white bond paper and were used as print references; in another words, a printer would use these proofs to easily associate a customer’s request for a photograph by either the WHJ number and/or title.
Condition: near fine, a touch of light staining in lower margin of mount and image; excellent tones, contrasts & details. Exceedingly scarce photographer’s proof, William Henry Jackson. Circa 1879
Image dimensions: 3 inches by 3-1/2 inches
Mount (stiff, but not thick white paper): 3-3/8 inches by 3-7/8 inches
