Description

THE ANACONDA EXTENSION GOLD MINING COMPANY stock certificate #287, issued February 23, 1893, not cancelled by the Company.

Signed by the Leadville silver baron, HORACE A. W. TABOR, as president

Mining property was located on Gold Hill, near the highly productive Anaconda Mine, Cripple Creek Gold Mining District, Colorado.

Tabor’s past business associates, David H. Moffat, Eben Smith, R. H. Reid, and George E. Ross-Lewin owned the Anaconda Mine, and to try to help Horace Tabor during his losing streak, suggested he purchase gold mining property in Cripple Creek, Colorado.  Unfortunately, this venture was also a money-loser.  Yet, to see Tabor in Cripple Creek was exceptional, especially investing in a gold mining venture.

On occasion, an example of the Anaconda Extension Gold Mining Company stock certificate does appear on the market; however, they are usually cancelled by the Company, and not often signed by Horace Tabor.  This is a rare opportunity to acquire an uncancelled Cripple Creek mining stock certificate with a Horace Tabor signature.

Near fine condition with the usual two folds.
