Condition: orginal photograph has very strong tones and contrasts, no significant wear or damage; original gray mount has some light wear at corners.

Sam Peterson was from Tunsta, Norway. After emigrating to the United States in 1891, Peterson owned and operated — at various times — saloons in Cripple Creek, Steamboat Springs, Denver, and Kremmling, Colorado; as well as in Thermopolis, Wyoming. He died at the Red Cross Hospital in
Salida, Colorado in July, 1940.
