The Silverton Railroad pass #277, issued 1888, to Gustavus H. Stoiber; signed by Stoiber on back of pass.

This specific railroad artifact has the added value of being signed by this Silverton, Colorado mining magnate on the back of the “buckskin” pass.

Railroad Pass #277 is in near fine condition.  The red inking appears to have been added in the 1880s, either by The Silverton Railroad Company or by the Stoibers.  Unusually bright, clean, and detailed printing and signatures for this pass.  Scarcity exceeds that of either the 1889 silver Silverton Railroad pass or the 1892 silver filigree Silverton Railroad & Rio Grande Southern railroad pass.

G. H. Stoiber’s early business card, 1883.
