MANHATTAN GOLD MINING DISTRICT
Elk Horn, Colorado

Boudoir-card photograph: Elk Horn Store & Saloon, in the Town of Elk Horn, Manhattan Gold Mining District, Larimer County, Colorado, circa 1890.
The Town of Elk Horn was a small settlement in the Manhattan Gold Mining District, located northwest of Ft. Collins, along the Cache la Poudre River. Gold discoveries were made in the early 1880s, and then the district went through a boom, bust, boom period into the 1890s. This is a superb photograph of the Elk Horn Store & Saloon (Sample Room). Excellent tones and contrasts, lending to fine detail. Condition of boudoir card: fine. Unfortunately, the photographer was not identified.
